No. 5 Edison (5-0-1, 1-0) vs. No. 10 Esperanza (4-2, 1-0)

7 TONIGHT

VALENCIA HIGH

Esperanza, which returned to the county's top 10 this week, got an emotional lift by knocking off Los Alamitos last week. The Aztecs should not experience a letdown against the unbeaten Chargers, but it will be another tough game. Edison begins a three-game, season-defining gantlet that includes Los Alamitos and Fountain Valley. The Chargers' offense likes to pound away with Josh Kogler, then let Jeff Grady throw a pass or two. Esperanza also can run with Brent Garrison. Grant Wagner's 350-yard passing effort against Los Alamitos was a career best.
