Law to Prohibit Parking on Frontyards Considered

September 05, 1997

El Segundo officials are considering an ordinance that would prohibit residents from parking their cars in their frontyards or on vacant lots that face streets.

Although officials said frontyard parking is not a major problem, several residents have complained that their neighbors do park on the lawns, said Councilwoman Jane Friedkin Residents are worried that if people are allowed to park in frontyards, property values will be driven down, Friedkin said.

"If you have even one car on your street parked on the lawn it's an aggravation, it doesn't look good," said Friedkin.
