HEALTH FAIR: New Christ Memorial Church will host its second annual health fair offering free HIV testing, mammograms, blood pressure and bone marrow testing, child immunizations and more from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. at the church, 13333 Vaughn St., Pacoima. LAUGH THERAPY: Humor therapist Roberta Gold will lead a session titled "Laughter for the Health of It" for Jewish singles in their 40s and 50s at 7 p.m. in Shomrei Torah Synagogue, 7353 Valley Circle Blvd., West Hills. 50TH ANNIVERSARY: Emmanuel Lutheran Church of North Hollywood will kick off a year of festivities to mark the 50th anniversary of the Laurel Hall Day School with special services at 8:30 and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, followed by a picnic at the church, 6020 Radford Ave., North Hollywood. OPEN HOUSES: Shomrei Torah Synagogue will offer visitors a chance to make a community mural and mezuzot, listen to storytellers and tour the facility at open houses from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Sunday and Sept. 14 at 7353 Valley Circle Blvd., West Hills. PHONE FRIENDS: Lancaster United Methodist Church will offer an after-school help line beginning this month called PhoneFriends, for children who are home alone between 2:30 and 6:30 p.m. Monday through Friday.
