* Update--The Angels hope Sunday's bizarre victory over Detroit will ease some of the tension that seemed to mount during a five-game losing streak. "It was a wacky, weird game and everyone is laughing about it and having some fun with it," Tim Salmon said. "The fact that it was so ridiculous, maybe that's what we need to loosen things up a bit, because things haven't exactly been cheery around here lately." The Angels were physically drained from the 15-inning, 5-hour, 2-minute game, but the win seemed to charge them emotionally. "Any time you're getting your butts kicked on a regular basis and are playing hard it's frustrating," said closer Troy Percival, who struck out four in 1 2/3 scoreless innings. "But today we were finally rewarded. We're only four games out. I still think we're in a pennant race."

* Tuesday, 4:30 p.m.--Ken Hill (7-11, 5.14) vs. Cris Carpenter (1-7, 6.84).
