Bare-Bones Budget Approved by Council

September 11, 1997|NICK GREEN

A "basic budget" that cut expenditures by about $180,000 over the previous year has been passed by the City Council.

The Fillmore council Tuesday unanimously passed a $20.9-million budget that includes $2.5 million in the general fund for city services such as police, said Finance Director Michelle Paddock.

"We've had a really tight budget for the last four years since the [Northridge] earthquake and we still have a tight budget," Paddock said. "We didn't have to make any cuts because we've done them all already."

Big ticket items in the budget include a $3.3-million water reservoir and $700,000 to widen and install a left turn lane at the intersection of A Street and California 126, she said.
