Cal Lutheran University's continuing education department is for the first time offering courses for a professional marketing certificate.
The program is designed to help students gain a theoretical and practical understanding of the discipline through hands-on training.
"It's geared toward professionals who want to increase their skills in terms of marketing," said Linda Fulford, a Cal Lutheran spokeswoman.
A free information session on the curriculum will begin at 9:30 a.m. Saturday in Room 128 of Alumni Hall on campus.
The course will be offered from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on alternative Saturdays beginning Sept. 20 and ending Feb. 7.
The course fee is $595 or $70 per session for each student. The course, to be taught by Cal Lutheran professor Joe Huggins, will cover 10 areas: principles of contemporary marketing, current market trends and segmentation, marketing research and consumer behavior, strategic marketing process, marketing communications, creative promotion, the personal sales process, service marketing, international marketing and electronic marketing.
