September 13, 1997

More than 200 people gathered for the first anniversary of an Eastside homeless center Friday in Boyle Heights.

The Boyle Heights-East Los Angeles Homeless Service Center has provided aid to more than 2,600 needy people.

"We are committed to continue our work of providing an incredibly valuable service to the homeless of this community," said Jeff Farber, assistant director of L.A. Family Housing Corp., the nonprofit organization that runs the program.

The center provides an array of services including emergency shelter, HIV and AIDS testing, access to computers and the Internet and emergency transportation.
