September 13, 1997|CHRIS CHI

Oxnard's Carnegie Art Museum will host a traveling exhibition on the impact of war beginning today.

"The Miseries and Misfortunes of War" features 36 prints by artists from the 15th to the 20th centuries.

Organized by the Arizona Museum of Art and funded by the National Endowment for the Arts, the exhibit is named after a series of etchings by 17th-century artist Jacques Callot.

The featured works include a woodcut by German artist Kathe Kollwitz and works by Winslow Homer and Thomas Hart Benton.

An opening reception will be held from 8 to 10 p.m. Friday, and the exhibit will remain at the museum through Nov. 16.

General admission is $3. For additional information, call 385-8157.
