The Stuff

These boots tower 28 inches high, end at the kneecaps and feature 10 inches of plastic platform teeth, pointy leather ears and faux fur that mimics unmowed shag carpeting.

And, get this: You can't find them on Melrose or any of the trendy boulevards. But you can check them out--are you ready for this?--at Nordstrom.

Close your mouth now.

This number--called Killer--goes for $349.95 and is for scenesters who walk on the wild side. Made by the footwear firm Swear, they're for both genders and in various versions. Platform sneakers, platform sandals and platform work boots, from $119 to $179, are the rage at European clubs, especially among London underground trendoids, says June Rau, Nordstrom spokeswoman and fashion director. "We brought them into our stores to offer customers a fashion adventure."
