Do the Math: 1 + 1 = Duplicate Slogans

What is taught in Advertising 101? Judging from billboards appearing around Southern California, the lesson is "Do the Math." Turns out American Savings and Winston cigarettes are using identical slogans in advertising campaigns. American Savings, a unit of Washington Mutual, is touting a no-fee checking account. R.J. Reynolds Tobacco Co. is pitching Winston as a no-additive cigarette. American Savings representative Libby Hutchinson said the thrift has been "doing the math" since late winter, several months longer than Winston.
