No. 8 Servite (0-1) vs. Irvine (1-0)

7:30 P.M. FRIDAY

IRVINE HIGH

It's unlikely Irvine will be able to rally for a victory this week if it falls way behind, as it did in its 30-29 victory over crosstown rival University. The Vaqueros trailed, 21-2, then caught fire in the third quarter behind a 212-yard rushing performance by running back Al Williams. Servite has one of the county's better bend-but-don't-break defensive teams. The Friars gave up 198 total yards in last week's 7-6 loss to Esperanza. Look for Coach Larry Toner to attempt to kick-start the Servite offense by turning to the no-huddle offense again, perhaps as early as the team's opening drive.

Servite

QB Ryan Garko: 12 of 28, 137 yds.

WR Matt Gogan: 4 catches, 44 yards

RB Vince Reed: 68 yards rushing, 1 TD

*

Irvine

QB Andrew Howard: 6 of 14, 42 yards, 4 PATs

WR Ray Kang: 2 catches, 18 yards

RB Al Williams: 212 yards rushing, 4 TDs
