Offer for Twins?

September 24, 1997|Associated Press

The Minnesota Twins will announce by the end of next week they have an offer to move to another city, the co-chairman of a legislative task force looking into a new stadium said Tuesday.

Sen. Keith Langseth also said he expects the task force to hear about the proposal from the undisclosed city sometime next week. North Carolina and South Carolina have been mentioned as possibilities.

The 1999 All-Star game will be held at Fenway Park in Boston.

The decision was made and reported earlier this summer but never formally announced.

Milwaukee had been awarded the 1999 game on the condition that Miller Park be ready, but it is not scheduled to open until the 2001 season.

Next year's All-Star game will be in Denver and the 2000 game is scheduled for Miami. Milwaukee is the likely site for 2001.
