Heat Is on House of Blues Founder, Sources Say

September 27, 1997|Chuck Philips

House of Blues founder Isaac Tigrett is under pressure from the company's board of directors and could be removed from the company, sources said. At a board meeting this week, several members voiced complaints about the financial performance of the West Hollywood-based nightclub-restaurant chain, sources said. A conflict regarding Tigrett's management style broke out at the meeting, which led to several members of the board suggesting that Tigrett be removed, sources said. There has been speculation that Tigrett is under increasing pressure for better financial results from Walt Disney Co., which bought a 12% stake in the company in 1995. A House of Blues spokesperson said Friday that Tigrett is "still with the company, and there are no plans to terminate him in the future."
