A Cool Spell

September 28, 1997|LYNN SIMROSS

Back to school can be cool for youngsters with the help of Homework Wiz, an electronic children's speller and dictionary. It's not only educational but fun to use because it has a clear case so you can see the electronics working inside.

The pocket-sized $30 Homework Wiz, from Franklin Electronic Publishers, is aimed at children 6 to 10, offering them more than 40,000 basic definitions and an on-screen handwriting guide. The word definitions are short and succinct: "Cool, a term for awesome;" "Wiz, an expert, a hotshot."

The handwriting guide enables children to type in any word and see it written on the screen in manuscript or cursive letters. Info: (800) 266-5626.
