(14-8, 3.38 ERA)

vs.

ROCKIES'

JOHN THOMSON

(7-9, 4.41 ERA)

Coors Field, Noon

TV--Channel 5. Radio--KABC (790), KWKW (1330).

* Update--With nothing to play for, Manager Bill Russell will let the players decide on today's lineup. Those regulars who want to start will do so; those who don't will be given the day off. The Dodgers hope some of the veterans sit so they can take a look at players such as minor league player of the year Konerko. Outfielder Brett Butler, who concludes a 17-year major league career today, will be given the opportunity to play, if he wants. Butler has been a seldom-used reserve in recent weeks. Russell will allow Park to go at least five innings, if he is effective, to get the chance to win his 15th game. The Dodgers are 5-0 at Coors Field this season.
