Police asked the public for help Monday in the search for a bank robber who used a bomb threat during a weekend heist.

The robber passed a note to a teller warning of a bomb during the Saturday noon robbery at California Federal Bank, 17900 Magnolia Ave., said Fountain Valley Police Sgt. Jim Perry.

The robber was described as a white man in his 30s, about 6 feet tall and 170 pounds, and possibly wearing a shoulder-length, salt-and-pepper wig.

He was dressed in dark pants, a burgundy jacket and a white baseball cap. He escaped in a dark green Ford Explorer and was last seen headed north on Magnolia Avenue.

Anyone with information is asked to call investigators at (714) 593-4485.
