April 16, 1998

Cal State Fullerton scored six runs in the first inning and went on to beat San Diego, 10-1, Wednesday night in a nonconference baseball game at Titan Field.

Third baseman Ryan Moore provided the punch for the Titans (29-12) with a triple, home run and two runs batted in. Mike Garner, making his first start of the year, pitched three innings to win via the designated-start rule. Four Titan relievers limited the Toreros (23-22) to one hit the rest of the game.

Kevin Duck had three RBIs for Fullerton.

The Toreros scored in the second inning on singles by Marty Hayes, Brian Mazone and Jeff Powers.
