LAPD, CHP to Make Push for Sober Graduation

April 21, 1998

Police and highway patrol officers will speak at more than 20 high schools in the San Fernando Valley as part the Sober Graduation program, a spokesman for the program said Monday.

The program, which began in 1985, is aimed at reducing injuries and deaths due to drunken driving, which typically increase during the May-June graduation period, said California Highway Patrol Officer Dwight McDonald.

Members of the CHP's West Valley office and the Los Angeles Police Department's Valley Traffic Division also will make presentations in Malibu, Agoura Hills and Calabasas.
