Downtown Restoration Group Seeks Public Comments on Plan

April 25, 1998

Main Street Inglewood, the community group coordinating many of the revitalization efforts scheduled for the city's downtown, is asking residents and business owners to come to a workshop today to discuss how the area should be redeveloped.

Inglewood has received a $10.5-million loan from the federal Department of Housing and Urban Development that the city wants to use to create a pedestrian plaza with outdoor cafes and retail shops. The city wants to restore the area to its 1950s heyday, when Inglewood was the retail center of the South Bay.

The workshop is scheduled for 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Holy Faith Episcopal Church, 260 N. Locust St. Further information is available at (310) 677-9155.
