With plenty of help from the JetHawks, the California League composite batting average is 31 points lower than at this time last season, dropping from .271 to .240. Scoring in the league is down nearly two runs a game and the league earned-run average has fallen from 4.30 to 3.57. The JetHawks are last in the league with a batting average of .224. The leader, Bakersfield, is batting only .266.

JetHawks catcher-designated hitter Brendan Kingman did not play until the season was eight games old because he was waiting for his visa to arrive. Kingman, 24, is from Sydney, Australia. Last week he hit a game-winning grand slam against Stockton. Kingman was signed by the Seattle Mariners after he batted .487 with 28 homers and 66 runs batted in in 44 Australian League winter games.
