Campbell Hall Tucks Away Alpha League Title

Jon Drexler, Jeff Erb and Pat Phelps each had 10 kills and Tanner Ragland collected 34 assists and five aces to help Campbell Hall defeat Glendale Adventist, 15-10, 15-4, 15-7, in a boys' volleyball game Tuesday.

The Vikings (11-1, 8-0 in league play), who claimed their third consecutive Alpha League title, have won 30 consecutive league matches.

Royal d. Newbury Park 15-6, 15-9, 13-15, 15-9--Steve Russell had 18 kills and Petr Dusek had 46 assists for the Highlanders (12-1, 11-0) in a Marmonte League victory at Newbury Park.

Chatsworth d. Kennedy 15-8, 12-15, 15-12, 15-7--Daniel Brookshire had 22 kills and Andrew Choy had 34 assists for the Golden Cougars (10-3, 7-3) but the Chancellors pulled off a Northwest Valley Conference upset at Chatsworth.

David Lurth had 13 kills and 12 blocks for Chatsworth (6-7, 5-5).

Granada Hills d. Birmingham 15-9, 15-6, 15-4--Mike Aleman had 10 kills and Frank Nguyen added 20 assists and four aces for the Highlanders (9-4, 6-4) in a Northwest Valley Conference victory at Birmingham.

Canyon d. Hart 7-15, 15-13, 15-3, 15-12--Sandro Meija had 14 kills and Mike Hansen had 18 assists for the Cowboys in a Foothill League victory at Hart (1-12, 1-5).

Flintridge Prep d. Salesian, 15-11, 15-7, 12-15, 21-19--J.P. Checa served an ace to finish a Santa Fe League match for the Rebels (12-2, 10-1) at Salesian.

Saugus d. Valencia, 15-1, 15-4, 15-3--Matt Bradley had 11 kills for the Centurions (10-1, 6-0) in a Foothill League match at Saugus.


Thousand Oaks 88, Simi Valley 48--Erin Brzezinski won the 100 meters in 12.4 seconds, the 200 in 26.4 and ran on the victorious 400 and 1,600 relay teams for the Lancers in the Marmonte League victory at Thousand Oaks.

The Lancers (7-0, 7-0) won their fifth consecutive league dual-meet title.


Frontier League Match No. 1--Justin Ohye shot two-under-par 70 and Jon Ohye had a 71 to help Calabasas win at Soule Park Golf Course in Ojai in the first of four matches to determine the league champion.

The Coyotes, with 364, are five strokes ahead of Nordhoff, which got a 69 from Jeff Coburn.

Flintridge Prep 185, Pasadena Poly 211--Russell Surber fired a three-under-par 32 and Andy Brisbois shot 33 for the Rebels (15-1, 8-1) in a Prep League victory at Brookside Golf Course No. 2.

Foothill League Match No. 2--Charlie Smith of Hart shot a one-under-par 70 at DeBell Golf Course in Burbank.

Hart finished with 384 to beat Valencia by 10 strokes.


Westlake 12, San Luis Obispo 6--Darren Joe, Erik Janson and Alex Yartau swept in singles and the Warriors (12-0) handed San Luis Obispo its first loss in 13 matches at Westlake.
