Less than two months after taking the job, the man hired to lead South Pasadena's fight against extension of the Long Beach Freeway has resigned.
The resignation of Stephen Finnegan, the city's transportation manager, caught City Council members off guard.
"We haven't discussed it yet," said Councilman Harry Knapp "He was just settling in the job."
The departure comes as the battle to stop the roadway is heading to court.
