Following neighbors' complaints, the City Council is seeking 16 people who will join a committee studying how to reduce traffic in the hillside area near Wildwood Canyon Park.
The citizens advisory committee will look at how to better control traffic created by The Castaway restaurant at 1250 Harvard Road, the DeBell Golf Course at 500 Walnut Ave., the nearby Starlight Bowl amphitheater and Wildwood Canyon Park, said City Clerk Judie Sarquiz.
Committee members will work with the city planner and a traffic consulting firm for about nine months developing a plan that will be presented to the City Council for approval, Sarquiz said. The appointees, who will serve without compensation, must be registered to vote and reside in the affected hillside area streets.
One representative will be chosen from each of the following Burbank streets above Kenneth Road: Olive Avenue, Magnolia Boulevard, San Jose Avenue, Cypress Avenue, Grinnell Drive, Fairmount Road, Cambridge Drive, South Sunset Canyon Drive (south of Harvard Road), Birmingham Road, Andover Drive, Uclan Drive, Tufts Avenue, University Avenue, Amherst Drive, Bethany Road, East Palm Avenue, East Orange Grove Avenue, Cornell Drive and Delaware Road.
Two residents--one above and one below Kenneth Road--will also be chosen from Walnut Avenue and Harvard Road.
The deadline for applications is Jan. 22; the council will make the appointments at its Feb. 9 meeting.
Applications can be picked up at the city clerk's office in City Hall at 275 E. Olive Ave. For more information, call the city clerk's office at (818) 238-5851.
