An 18-year-old Ventura man was in critical condition Wednesday after he was shot several times the night before in what authorities believe was a gang-related attack.

Fabian Arturo Flores was shot shortly after 10 p.m. Tuesday as he was walking with a friend in the 400 block of Ramona Street, said Police Lt. Don Arth. Police are looking for two suspects, he said.

"The victim was with another individual and having conversation and were apparently together when approached by the suspects," Arth said.

The attackers approached Flores from a nearby grassy lot, shot him with a small-caliber handgun and fled to a waiting vehicle, authorities said.

The suspects are described as two males in their late teens to early 20s.

"There's indications that it's gang-related," Arth said. "But the motive for it at this time is what we're working on. Whether all parties that were at the scene are known gang members, is not known yet."
