E-i-E-i Yoga. Mystic Fire Video. 38 minutes. $14.95. (800) 292-9001. It's a bit on the sugary side--mild-mannered, real-life yoga teacher Max Thomas plays Yogi Oki Doki in an inexplicable farm setting, hobnobbing awkwardly with costumed characters Rasta the Rooster and How Now the "Mooo" Cow. This interactive, sing-along kidvid, however, does offer an easygoing introduction to some relaxing yoga moves that encourages focus on balance and breathing.
Fairy Tales on Ice: Alice Through the Looking Glass. PolyGram Video. 50 minutes. $19.95. Olympian Nancy Kerrigan gracefully glides through this ice fantasy as a benevolent queen while a little girl finds herself in the world of Tweedledum and Tweedledee, heroic knights and the mischievous Jabberwocky. Very loosely based on Lewis Carroll's characters, the production features narration by Geena Davis and music by Marvin Hamlisch.
Peter Pan. Derek Jacobi. Delos International. Two-CD set: $19.98; two-cassette set: $14.98. (213) 962-2626; (800) 364-0645. An evocative reading by noted British film and stage actor Derek Jacobi, an inspired choice to bring J.M. Barrie's magical tale to life--his Hook is a hoot. The classic is adapted by Jane McCulloch from Barrie's "Peter and Wendy" and includes music by Donald Fraser.
Lucky Day. Bright Ideas Productions. CD only: $11.98. (800) 223-6357. This is another pleasant release from the Bright Ideas folks, who specialize in tuneful, very upbeat songs for preschoolers and early elementary-school-age kids, written by Lisa Marie Nelson and Ophir Shur. Not too relentlessly cheery for parental consumption, these pop- and rock-style lead vocals are by musical stage professionals Andre Garner and Curt Skinner. Highlights: the bouncily inspirational "Give It a Try," the exercise-promoting "Work Out," "Food Pyramid" (to encourage good nutrition) and such thoughtful "feelings" songs as "Express Yourself" and "Quiet Mind."
