Half Moon Bay-based Odwalla Inc. reported a net loss for the fiscal first quarter ended Nov. 30 of $175,000, or 3 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $4.8 million, or 98 cents, in the year-earlier quarter that included $3.8 million in recall costs. . . . SBC Communications Inc.'s Pacific Bell unit said it has reached an agreement with Chicago-based Ameritech to resell local phone service in California. San Francisco-based PacBell has signed more than 30 such interconnection agreements, but this is the first with a Baby Bell phone company formed by the 1984 breakup of AT&T. . . . Drug giant Pharmacia & Upjohn Inc. said it will pay South San Francisco-based Genentech Inc. $35 million for exclusive worldwide rights to a drug that Genentech is studying for possible use in treating complications of chemotherapy.
