January 13, 1998|BARBARA MURPHY

Interlink Electronics Inc. in Camarillo has begun shipping its new VersaPad touch pad to Best Buy for retail distribution through its 285 U.S. stores.

VersaPad, for desktop PCs, features cursor control, touch-sensitive scrolling and a signature-capture function for signing e-mail or annotating documents.

"Best Buy remains committed to providing our customers with the best possible selection of home office computers and peripherals," said Laurie Bauer, a Best Buy spokeswoman. "Interlink's VersaPad touch-pad . . . gives them what is perhaps the most versatile PC input device available today, and at a price that's truly competitive."

The decision by Best Buy to offer the VersaPad makes the product available throughout the United States, said Bill Yates, Interlink Electronics' senior vice president of sales and marketing.

Interlink Electronics designs and manufactures computer pointing-device products.
