Authorities are asking for the public's help in locating a man who robbed a home furnishings store at gunpoint.

The robbery occurred at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday at Pier One Imports, 140 W. Hillcrest Drive, said Sheriff's Det. Ernie Montagna.

A white man in his 30s was seen walking through the Thousand Oaks store just before closing time. He pulled out a handgun and demanded cash, Montagna said.

The clerk handed over an undisclosed amount of bills, and the man fled, running toward Hillcrest Drive, authorities said.

No one was injured.

The robber is described as 6 feet tall and medium to heavy build with dark brown collar-length hair. He had a round, thick face and was clean-shaven. He wore a dark blue baseball cap and sweatshirt, white shirt and blue jeans.

Ventura County Crime Stoppers is offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the man's conviction. Tipsters may remain anonymous. Anyone with information is asked to call 494-TALK.
