Hikers Will Elevate as 'Peak Performers'

The city's Community Services Department is offering "Peak Performers," an advanced version of "Hiking the Trails," on four Saturdays beginning today.

The other Saturdays are Feb. 7 and 21 and March 14.

The class is for adults who want to reach higher elevations in Southern California and can hike at a steady pace.

These 8- to 10-mile hikes are led by trail guides.

Rides will leave University Park at 7:30 a.m. and return about 5:30 p.m.

The cost for all four hikes is $50.
