* The three-day L.A. Classic gymnastics meet is scheduled to run today through Sunday at the Gymnastics Olympica gym in Van Nuys.

Approximately 300 gymnasts from 21 teams and five states are expected to participate, including 1996 national Junior Olympic floor-exercise champion Cezanna Eckenberg and eight other nationally ranked athletes.

* Simi Valley Girls Softball will stage a baseball-softball clinic that features instruction by Ladies League Baseball players from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at the Simi Valley Arroyo Fields.

Ladies League Baseball players Jo Curone, Melissa Acosta and Kristina Kepner, among others, are scheduled to provide instruction. Ladies League Baseball is a professional baseball league for women.
