Huggies

January 31, 1998|CYNDI Y. NIGHTENGALE

Sometimes only a hug will do.

When you need a squeeze but no one's around, the Anybuddy Hug in a Bag is always ready and willing. The pillow shaped like a person comes in an extensive range of fabrics and sizes.

It is made to comfort and soothe, but it also makes a whimsical, creative decorative piece for nearly any room.

Creator Sheryl Cancellieri, who lives in Boulder, Colo., conceived the idea while attending the University of Colorado. Within six months of coming up with the idea, she received a patent and was on her way.

Cancellieri has experimented with many fabrics, such as velvet and heavy cottons. She has designed a special-edition pillow (starting at $75; the small is 34 inches, the medium 46 inches) for Valentine's Day. It is red and white fleece with a heart attached and is available at Barneys New York at South Coast Plaza, Costa Mesa. (714) 434-7500.

In the Bud

Everything will be coming up roses for your sweetheart if you present the blooms in this rose vase by Steuben. The vase, introduced in 1959, has a top that spreads outward and a narrow waist to hold one dozen roses with perfect flare. Flame-like crystal bits encircling the base of the vase symbolize the glowing fire of passion.

The vase ($790) is the work of George Thompson, one of six original designers recruited for Steuben in 1936.

The rose vase is available at Neiman Marcus in Fashion Island Newport Beach. For information, call (714) 759-1900.

Aquatic Rubdown

The tub isn't just for soaking anymore.

The latest innovation in bathtubs offers a rolling massager to relieve stress, tension and sore muscles.

Jacuzzi's J-Sha is a hydrotherapeutic bath that simulates shiatsu back massage. Thirty-two jets in two recessed channels create the rolling massage. The tub also has four patented whirlpool jets and a headrest to complete the experience.

The back massager is electronically controlled and provides three pre-programmed cycles depending the bather's weight and size. The massager can be personalized by adjusting the water flow, sequential speed and duration.

An electronic touch pad controls the jet action and the bathtub, available in white, includes a heat system that maintains the water's temperature.
