Sir Speedy Tries Print Shop in Wal-Mart

July 01, 1998|A Times Staff Writer

Sir Speedy Inc. opened a printing and copying shop inside a Wal-Mart Stores Inc. store in Mount Airy, N.C., as a test to determine whether such sites can attract business. Sir Speedy, the No. 1 franchised printing chain, said it is scouting locations for shops inside other retailers as well. Stores within stores are becoming increasingly common, especially at Wal-Mart, the world's biggest retailer. Mission Viejo-based Sir Speedy has more than 1,000 printing centers in 23 countries.
