Dishington Doubles in Triple-A Debut

Nate Dishington (Hoover High) made his triple-A debut Friday night, and hit a run-scoring double for the Memphis Redbirds in an 11-5 loss to Omaha.

Dishington started at first base and batted cleanup one day after being promoted by the St. Louis Cardinals from double-A Arkansas, where he was batting .253 with 17 home runs and 49 runs batted in.

Right-hander Jeff Suppan (Crespi) was sent back down to triple-A Tucson on Friday after falling to 1-7 for the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Suppan lost, 3-2, to the Chicago Cubs on Thursday, throwing 115 pitches in five innings. In that game, Suppan also stole his first major league base.

It was the second time in a month that the expansion team has demoted Suppan, who has a 6.68 ERA and has given up 12 home runs in 66 innings.

Friday night's attendance of 7,071 was a franchise record for the JetHawks.

Leach improved his average to .345, while Charles' jumped to .318. . . . Former JetHawk Dusty Wathan hit a three-run home run for Orlando (Mariners) in a 10-5 loss to Mobile. . . . Del Marine (El Camino Real High, Moorpark College) had two hits for Jacksonville (Tigers) in a 5-2 victory over Birmingham. . . . Will Skett (Reseda High, Valley College) drove in two runs and Ryan Stromsborg (Notre Dame High) hit a home run for Knoxville (Blue Jays) in a 6-3 victory over Huntsville. . . . Stacy Kleiner (Taft High) had two doubles for Arkansas (Cardinals) in a 7-3 loss to Wichita.

Class-A--Fernando Rios (Glendale High) had three hits, including his fifth home run, and four RBIs for Burlington (Reds) in a 6-5 victory over Quad City. . . . David Matranga (Pepperdine) had a two-run double for Auburn (Astros) in a 9-5 loss to Batavia. . . . David Skeels (Thousand Oaks) had two doubles and two RBIs for Visalia (Athletics) in an 11-9 loss to San Jose. . . . Rookie--Aaron Dean (Hart High) had two doubles for Great Falls (Dodgers) in a 3-2 loss to Medicine Hat and is batting .455 since being sent down from Class-A San Bernardino last week.
