XTRA Sports 1150 has finally made it into an Arbitron ratings book. The spring book for April and May showed the station got an 0.7 share for people 12-plus and a 1.1 for men 25-54. The evening time block did the best, getting a 1.1 in 12-plus and a 2.2 in men 25-54. One reason for the strong showing at night is the subtraction of obnoxious and crude Joey Haim and the addition of rising star Ben Maller. However, Maller and partner Dave Smith went overboard Wednesday night, taking far too much credit for the strong rating. But this is talk radio, where humility doesn't exist.
It was interesting to note that Spanish-language Univision stuck with France's World Cup celebration long after its 3-0 victory over Brazil on Sunday, while ABC, which had to recoup its $25-million investment, left for a commercial break. The American way is not always the best.
