Citron to Head USA Networks' Net Efforts

NEW YORK — USA Networks Inc. appointed Alan Citron to head its Internet efforts as the cable television programmer seeks ways to expand its electronic-commerce activities.

Citron, president of the multimedia division of USA Networks' Ticketmaster Group unit, will take on the newly created position of president of USA Networks Interactive. Citron will oversee USA Networks' current Internet sites, the development of future sites and investments in Internet-related companies.

The appointment comes as USA Networks, which owns the USA Networks and Home Shopping Network cable TV channels, expands its presence on the Internet as a way to generate additional revenue and sell more products. USA Networks owns the Internet Shopping Network, Ticketmaster Online and other electronic-commerce sites.
