Bristol Street Project Will Start in August

June 02, 1998|HOPE HAMASHIGE

With the commitment of $5.3 million in federal transportation money last week, the long-planned widening of Bristol Street is scheduled to begin in August.

"That money was very important," Mayor Miguel A. Pulido Jr. said. "It closed the gap, and we are now fully funded to begin phase one."

When the $120-million project is complete, Bristol Street will have a landscaped median. The city also plans to create parks on either side of the street.

The section of Bristol between McFadden and Edinger avenues will be repaved and widened to six lanes. Similar improvements, including the burying of utility lines, will be extended as far north as Memory Lane and south to Warner Avenue.
