Board Service Earns Wakeham an Award

Margie Wakeham, an Irvine Unified School District board member, has received the Marian Bergeson Award for excellence in board member service.

Wakeham received the honor at a recent event of the Orange County School Boards Assn.

She was nominated by the district's Board of Education. All boards of the 28 school districts and four community college districts in the county selected the winner from more than 166 board members.

Wakeham has served on the Irvine board for 13 years, and the Coastline Regional Occupation Board for several years.

She's the director of Irvine Temporary Housing.
