Carpinteria-based MetaCreations Corp. said Microsoft Corp. has licensed its 3-D software. Microsoft will include the software in future releases of its Windows operating system, allowing programmers to create three-dimensional graphics, MetaCreations said. The software could be used for games, Web sites and electronic commerce. MetaCreations warned in January that its earnings would be lower than analysts expected because of slow demand for its products. Shares rose 6 cents to close at $8.25 on Nasdaq.
