Moorpark College invites high school juniors and seniors to apply for a four-day communications conference on campus called Cyber Summer '98.

The first two days focus on drawing, writing, concept development and design. During the last two days, students choose the topics they're interested in such as photography, digital retouching, special effects, television, film and radio.

The classes are taught by Ventura County educators and professionals from businesses such as Cinema 4D, Rockwell Science Center, Art Center College of Design and Randy Harmon Photography and Desktop Design.

The conference is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 10-13 at the college's communications building.

Last year, 50 students from 14 high schools participated in the program.

The 1997 participants are encouraged to apply for one of two advanced sessions held Aug. 6-7 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

One session will be devoted to the student newspaper; the other will focus on animation and special effects.

The fee for the four-day session is $98, and the fee for the advanced sessions is $24 per day.

A few scholarships are available based on financial need.

The deadline for applications is June 30.

Students interested in attending should contact their high school communications department for an application or call Victoria Bortolussi at (805) 378-1405.
