Walks, Talks, Shows and Special Sales

Wednesday: Screening of a video on wildflowers of the Antelope Valley, with a plant sale by the Conejo Valley Botanic Garden, 7 p.m., at the Goebel Senior Center, 1385 Janss Road, Thousand Oaks, (805) 494-3266. Free.

Saturday: Workshop on garden design for children ages 6 to 12 and their parents, in which children create a garden model after walking through the garden to discover principles of design, 10 a.m., at Descanso Gardens, 1418 Descanso Drive, La Canada Flintridge, (818) 952-4401. $10 per child plus garden admission: adults $5, seniors and students $3, children $1. Reservations required.

Saturday: Walk led by Nature Guides, 10 a.m., at Fullerton Arboretum, 1900 Associated Road, Fullerton, (714) 278-3404. $7.

June 28: Workshop on pruning black pines, 9-11:30 a.m., at the annual pruning of the black pines at the Earl Burns Miller Japanese Garden, Earl Warren Drive across from parking lot D, Cal State Long Beach, (562) 985-8885. Free.
