Millar Getting Back Into the Swing

Infielder Kevin Millar (Hart High, University High) is batting .350 through one week of a rehabilitation stint for Charlotte, the Florida Marlins' triple-A affiliate.

Millar, who in April broke the hamate bone in his wrist while making his first major league start, has four home runs and 13 runs batted in through 20 at-bats.

Triple-A--Jeff Suppan (Crespi High) allowed four hits, including two home runs, in 5 2/3 innings for Tucson (Diamondbacks) in a 5-4 loss to Iowa. Suppan did not get a decision. . . . After losing his first four decisions, Roger Salkeld (Saugus High) won his second consecutive outing, striking out nine and allowing one hit in six innings for New Orleans (Houston) in a 12-4 victory over Las Vegas. . . . Steve Sisco (Thousand Oaks High) homered and had three runs batted in for Omaha (Royals) in a 15-2 victory over Salt Lake. . . . Andrew Lorraine (Hart High) earned a save for Tacoma (Mariners) in a 7-6 victory over Fresno.

Double-A--Dan Cey (El Camino Real High) had two hits and stole his 13th base for New Britain (Twins) in a 2-1 victory over Trenton. . . . Gabe Kapler (Taft High, Moorpark College) and Del Marine (El Camino Real High, Moorpark College) each had three hits, while Robert Fick (Newbury Park High, Cal State Northridge) and former JetHawk Carlos Villalobos each had two hits for Jacksonville (Tigers) in an 11-9 victory over Orlando. Kapler hit his 15th home run and had three RBIs. Marine also homered and drove in three. Former JetHawk Tarrick Brock hit two home runs for Orlando (Mariners). . . . David Newhan (Pepperdine) had two hits and Mike Rossiter (Burroughs High) pitched two no-hit innings for Mobile (Padres) in a 5-2 victory over Knoxville. . . . Adam Kennedy (Cal State Northridge) and Nate Dishington (Hoover High) each had two hits and a stolen base for Arkansas (Cardinals), and Frank Charles (Montclair Prep) had two hits for Shreveport (Giants) in Shreveport's 10-6 victory.

Class-A--Jon Schaeffer (Harvard-Westlake) had two hits for Fort Wayne (Twins) in a 2-1 loss to Cedar Rapids. . . . Chris Garza (Notre Dame High) earned his seventh save for Fort Myers (Twins) in a 7-5 victory over Tampa. . . . Dennis Konrady (Pepperdine) had two hits, including his fourth home run, for Kinston (Indians) in a 4-3 victory over Wilmington. . . . Darrell Dent (Montclair Prep) stole his 19th base for Frederick (Orioles) in a 2-1 victory over Winston-Salem. . . .
