Child-Care Agency Moves to Bigger Site

June 23, 1998|MICHAEL BAKER

Faced with increased demand, the Child Care Resource Center has moved to a new location in Van Nuys and is now fully operational, officials at the private, nonprofit agency announced Monday.

"We needed to move to service all the people who wanted our services," said Terry Taylor, associated director of agency administration. "We are able to take on new programs and expand our staff, and we certainly can handle our current programs more comfortably."

The center's programs and services assist more than 30,000 adults and children by providing child-care referrals, educational workshops, training and programs that help families pay for child care, Taylor said.

The center began moving from North Hollywood into the new facility at 16650 Sherman Way, between Balboa Boulevard and Hayvenhurst Avenue, on June 15. Those seeking information on child-care programs should call the center's new number at (818) 756-3366.

The new building will serve more people since it is much larger and surrounded by ample parking, Taylor said.

The first floor will house an expanded library and a conference room that holds as many as 50 people. The old conference room could handle only 30 people, said Pat Koesler, senior manager for child-development programs and training.

All departments--including resource and referral, child-care nutrition, subsidized child care, Head Start, special projects and administration--will be on the building's second floor.

The resource center also has offices in the Santa Clarita Valley at 26111 Bouquet Canyon Road, and in the Antelope Valley at 540 West Lancaster Blvd.
