Coke Ends Test of Embossed Sprite Can

June 25, 1998|Bloomberg News

Coca-Cola Co. ended its test of an embossed Sprite can in Portland, Ore., as the world's largest beverage company experiments with unique packaging to make its drinks stand out on shelves. Information from the test of the Sprite can, which used a technology that lines up indentations with bubbles and lines on the can's artwork, is being used to develop new packaging, said a company spokeswoman. The Atlanta-based company has focused on new packages for its sodas to make them catch consumers' attention. Plastic contour bottles for Coke Classic and Diet Coke, as well as a plastic dimpled bottle for Sprite, have been wildly successful.
