Man Gets Prison Term in Child Porn Case

March 03, 1998|BONNIE HAYES

A Santa Ana man was sentenced Monday to 3 1/2 years in prison for having more than 1,200 photographs and 65 video images of child pornography on his home computer.

Craig Allen Williams, 37, pleaded guilty last fall to having the pornography, which showed minors engaged in graphic sexual behavior, said Assistant U.S. Atty. Nancy B. Spiegel.

Williams, who has been in federal custody since his arrest last July, was sentenced in Los Angeles.

In addition to the prison sentence, U.S. District Judge Lourdes Baird ordered that Williams undergo psychiatric counseling and remain on probation for three years after his release from prison, Spiegel said. She also recommended that he serve his sentence at a prison that has a sex offender program.

Williams is a registered sex offender who was convicted of felony child molestation in 1988 and misdemeanor child molestation in 1983.
