Despite Councilwoman Heather K. Somers' protests that there are too many liquor licenses, a pharmacy planned for Harbor Boulevard can sell alcohol.
Council members on Monday voted 4-1 to allow liquor sales at the Rite Aid pharmacy under construction at 3029 Harbor Blvd. Rite Aid will devote about 3% of the 16,730-foot store to liquor sales, and officials said they do not anticipate problems typically associated with convenience stores, such as loitering and underage sales.
