$10-Million School Bond to Be Placed on Ballot

March 04, 1998

The Lennox School District will ask voters to approve a $10-million school bond measure in June to help pay for an estimated $25 million in expansion and repairs to the district's six campuses.

School officials said increased enrollment over the last several years has led the district to put up several portable classrooms and change to a year-round schedule. Officials said the district has qualified for modernization funds for existing facilities, in addition to state money to build a school and classroom buildings.

"We are eligible for state assistance for all these building projects but we need to have matching funds," said Daniel Jurenka, deputy superintendent. "That's the reason we need to pass this bond."
