Developer Misses Deadline, City Says

March 06, 1998|REGINA HONG

Despite saying previously that he would probably conclude an important land purchase Thursday, developer Paul Bollinger has not notified Moorpark officials that he is any closer to acquiring half the property he'll need for a proposed luxury housing project.

"We've not heard anything specific from Paul Bollinger in terms of closing his deal," said Nelson Miller, the city's director of community development.

The Thousand Oaks-based developer declined comment on the matter Thursday.

Earlier this week, Bollinger said he expected to finalize a purchase agreement on Thursday with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, which owns roughly half of the 655 acres he needs to build the 216 homes and two 18-hole golf courses he has proposed.

Bollinger does not own any of the parcels required for his proposal, and the City Council has at times expressed impatience with delays on the project, which was approved in April 1996.

In a letter last month to the city, Bollinger said he expected the agreement with the church to close by this week.
