Anaheim's Danbrook Elementary School this month began participating in a nationwide reading program.

Success for All, designed by Robert Slavin of Johns Hopkins University, has helped 450 schools nationwide to improve literacy skills, school officials said, by using 90-minute time blocks devoted to reading.

Students will be tested every eight weeks to determine improvement rates. Those needing help will receive an extra 20 minutes of reading time, where they can receive further instruction on how to improve.

The program will especially target those children who are moved from school to school by their parents, making it difficult for them to learn. The school decided to start the program after 94% of teachers said they would approve of including it in the curriculum.
