CSUN to Review Athletic Program

March 10, 1998

Cal State Northridge on Monday announced it is launching a year-long review of its athletic program, as required by the NCAA.

All 308 NCAA member schools must go through a certification process every five years. Northridge must evaluate its program based on 17 operating principles encompassing four areas: governance and commitment to rules compliance, academic integrity, fiscal integrity and commitment to equity.

Northridge has formed a steering committee and four subcommittees to prepare an internal study of the athletic program. Ann Stutts, dean of Northridge's College of Health and Human Development, is chairperson of the steering committee.

The study is scheduled to conclude in April 1999, with an NCAA peer review team visiting the campus in May of next year.

A web site at www.csun.edu/-hfafr002/NCAA.html has been established to provide information throughout the process.
