Fullerton Rips Pepperdine, 12-2

Chris Beck drove in five runs and Reed Johnson and Greg Jacobs each were four for four to lead Cal State Fullerton past Pepperdine, 12-2, in a nonconference baseball game Wednesday night at Titan Field.

The Titans (15-5), who have won five in a row and nine of 10, turned a triple play in the second inning when freshman starter George Carralejo (2-0) caught Dave Sugden's bunt attempt and forced out runners at first and second.

Pepperdine is 12-10-1.

In another nonconference baseball game:

Bellevue (Neb.) 13-13, Concordia 4-7--Kevin Coe was three for three with two runs and five RBIs in the second game of a doubleheader for Bellevue (9-7). Ben Kindreich had three hits, including a home run, and three RBIs for Concordia. Casey Chop and Chad Smith also had home runs for the Eagles.

In the first game, Concordia's Seth Myers had two home runs and four RBIs. The Eagles are 8-12. Coe had three hits and four RBIs for Bellevue.

In the Sun West softball tournament:

Chapman 15, Blackburn 0 (5, mercy)--Jessamine Maiben had three hits, three runs and two RBIs for Chapman. Maiben pitched a two-hitter with five strikeouts to improve her record to 3-0.

Lacee Rashi had two doubles, two RBIs and two runs for the Panthers. Laurel Bailey also had two hits for the Panthers.

Chapman 8, Kean 0 (5, mercy)--Catie Lacy pitched a three-hitter with four strikeouts for Chapman (8-0). Amie Barnes and Stephanie Carew each had two hits for the Panthers. Barnes and Jenni Bankus each scored two runs for Chapman.

In nonconference men's tennis:

UC Irvine 5, Purdue 2--David Chang defeated Purdue's Tushaar Gantan, 7-5, 6-0. Chris Ma of UC Irvine (5-7) defeated Dan Swam, 6-3, 6-1. Purdue is 5-5.

In nonconference women's tennis:

UC Irvine 8, St. Louis 1--Natalie Exon defeated St. Louis' Andra Wilcox, 6-4, 6-3, as UC Irvine extended its winning streak to three matches. Exon teamed with Nickole Kabe to defeat Ingrid Habony and Olivia Voils in doubles, 8-0.

Kabe also won in singles for the Anteaters (7-4), defeating Jayasree Kuravilla, 6-4, 6-1.
